BMW Group Inks Record in Middle East BMW Group recorded its highest sales in the GCC countries with an increase of 14 percent compared to 2006. Similar growth in turnover is reflected in the total sales in the Middle East with an increase of six percent. This growth has signed a record sales of 15,150 BMW and MINI through the region.
Compared to 11,250 sales in 2006, the GCC inked 12,782 sales in 2007, while the Middle East have a total of 15,150 units represented over 14,332 units in 2006, AME Info reported.
The sales increase was largely attributed to Abu Dhabi Motors, exclusive importer in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, with an increase of 36 per cent to 1890 units 2561. CMEA, the exclusive importer for Dubai and Northern Emirates, recorded the highest total sales for the manufacturer with 3,594 vehicles delivered.
"The Middle East is a region of great opportunities and potential of the BMW Group, as presented by the very healthy growth of almost all markets in recent years," said Phil Horton, Managing Director of BMW Group Middle East. "Despite some regional challenges, we have recorded a remarkable growth and we remain optimistic that this growth will continue for at least the next three years."
After Abu Dhabi, other Gulf markets up include Qatar and Kuwait, 25 per cent and 24 per cent per annum over the period of growth, respectively. Syria, meanwhile, registered the largest increase in the markets of the Levant, with 22 percent raise. In 2007, this market shows a remarkable rise 94 percent.
"The growth we witnessed last year is sure to continue in 2008 and 2009 with the introduction of several important new products including the all new BMW X6, the first Sports Activity Coupe to market luxury quality and at the end of this year, the introduction of the new 7 Series brand, "added Horton. "We also have several new models in the range that will strengthen our position in the region such as the new BMW M3 Sedan, the new 1 Series Convertible and Coupe, and the much awaited MINI Clubman.
In 2007, the Middle East unit manufacturer BMW 325is Radiator introduced new models that have contributed significantly to the inking of record. The new models include the X5 Sports Activity Vehicle, 3 Series Convertible, MINI Cooper and MINI Cooper S. Note, MINI recorded a rise of 29 per cent of sales after the start of its new model in April last year. From 475 units sold in 2006, this figure rose to 612 last year.
