Bmw Performance PartsBMW Sauber's Kubica hopes to race at Indy

Robert Kubica, the first Polish driver in Formula One racing, has hinted his desire to race at Indianapolis this weekend. After a terrible accident in Montreal where it was suspected he had a broken leg, Kubica is still in the race for the next United States Grand Prix.

At the recent Canadian Grand Prix, Kubica had a serious accident near the hairpin on lap 27 at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. The Pole left the runway after hitting Jarno Trulli Toyota from behind and hit a bump in the grass, lifting the car's nose in the air and leaving him unable to brake or steer.

Kubica's car clipped a barrier and smashed his head into the wall inside the hairpin. The car then rolled as it came back across the track, hitting the wall outside of the hairpin. Some BMW performance parts soared, reaching a wall in the center of the circuit, before rolling to stop at the entrance hairpin, with a little more than its monocoque intact. Finally, he was removed from the car and taken to the circuit medical center, where he was announced to "stable". He was then transported to Sacred Heart Hospital in Montreal Medical helicopter additional controls.

"It seemed an awfully long time, even if it was just a few minutes before getting the information that Robert is conscious and able to speak," said Mario Theissen of BMW. "According to preliminary medical reports, Robert has escaped this very heavy accident relatively unscathed."

Trulli was better placed than most to attend the actual severity of the crash of Robert Kubica. Kubica encountered, the stroke onset. "I just want to say how pleased I am that Robert Kubica is not seriously injured after the accident on lap 27, when we were almost running. I was shocked by the violence of the accident and very concerned because I had no information, "said Trulli.

Trulli added, "I struggled with graining and lack of grip. Robert was quicker and I gave him the left side of the runway. The last time I saw him in my mirrors, it was this side, I just got behind and I have no idea what happened. I saw the medical car for a period of time and I was very worried. "

After participation in a timely and thorough medical, the pole had just escaped from such an injury, and suffered a few bruises and a badly sprained ankle. Less than 24 hours after his accident at high speed, the pole has been released from a Montreal hospital.

He said: "As you can see I'm in quite good shape and hoping to go to Indianapolis if the doctors clear me to drive. I feel good account. I had lucky - it was a big accident. " Kubica added: "I have no pain and feel good. I want to thank everyone for the medical care I received and for all the good wishes. I am happy that I could leave the hospital so quickly and will now prepare for the race at Indianapolis. "The Polish driver was given the green light to the authorization of local doctors and drove himself away from the hospital in a BMW X5.

Kubica underwent intensive CT-scans and other checks at the Sacre Coeur Hospital in Montreal. Before being allowed to race at Indianapolis, the center will undergo further medical examination by the FIA Medical Delegate on the track on Thursday. Under the regulations, BMW Sauber F1 Team has announced its driver line-up for the weekend until Thursday.
