Camping and horse trails in Colorado The beauty of Colorado is quite inviting to nature lovers everywhere and the miles and miles of scenic trails winding through the state make Colorado even more appealing. There are thousands of miles of trails in Colorado, ranging from easy to very difficult and painful. Some trails are designated for hiking and bicycling, while some are used for all terrain vehicles and off-road. There are also hundreds of miles of trails winding through the flange and beautiful landscapes of Colorado.
There are 54 national recreation areas in Colorado that offer several miles of riding trails, including 6 national parks and 20 state parks in Colorado, with equestrian trails. Three U.S. Forest Service campgrounds provide horse campgrounds and two state parks in Colorado offers campsites with horse corrals nearby. There are also horses for rent at several recreation areas and state parks.
San Isabel National Forest in central Colorado has four trails designated for horseback riding and two camping sites that offer horse. Alvarado Booking campsite has 3 campgrounds horse that will allow 8 people each. Toilets and drinking water from a hand pump is provided and the campground is near the beautiful and challenging golf Sangre de Cristo wilderness. Remember to bring a poncho emergency Coleman if you are caught in a thunderstorm in the afternoon together.
The Purgatory of camping reservation is also home to eight campers with horses and offers a selection of 8 horses campgrounds. Jacks Gulch Campground in northern Colorado to the west of Fort Collins offers five campsites with horse paddocks and several nearby trails for riding. Jacks Gulch Visitors can also enjoy biking, hiking, fishing, ATV riding, and observing a variety of wildlife, especially an abundance of birds.
Vega State Park in the center of Collbran, Colorado has a convenient parking for horse trailers with access to hundreds of miles of trails for horseback riding in the Grand Mesa National Forest. Camping horse is not available in this state park in Colorado, but pens are located next to the rustic cabins and not far from the site of the family. Corals can be reserved in advance.
One of four campgrounds in Colorado State Forest State Park Campground Brockman, recently added corral horse camping facilities. State Forest State Park offers over 50 miles of trails and roads that can be used for horseback riding and hiking, biking, boating and fishing opportunities. The park also has cabin and yurt rentals year.
If you are interested in camping and riding in Colorado, but do not have a horse, two Cherry Creek State Park and Chatfield State Park stables are conveniently located within institutions that offer guided tours and horse rentals. Just south of Denver, Cherry Creek State Park is very popular this year because of its size and scenic walking trails and many amenities including a marina and a field of model aircraft.
If you are riding camp in Colorado, it is important to remember that all horse feed used on the state or national reasons must be certified free of weeds. This includes hay and pellets. Check with the campground or park you plan to camp ahead of time for other regulations regarding your horse. Some corrals have no water, it may be necessary to bring buckets or a hose.
