Fiberglass TrailersEnclosed Trailer Wall Construction

This article is the first of a ten-part series discussing the various individual components of enclosed trailers and how they relate to long-term stability of your trailer.

One of the most important elements of enclosed trailers is their construction of the wall. Wall constructions come in a variety of combinations. Most enclosed trailers used aluminum, steel, galvanized steel, sometimes referred Galvaneal, or FRP. For members of the Cross-wall, steel or aluminum is used. Attached to the members of the Cross is made of plywood, Luan, aluminum or a combination thereof.

Outside

More commonly used is the aluminum exterior. Normally, the thickness varies from 0.024 to 0050, aluminum is the most common form of the outdoors. It is durable, long lasting, and does not rust. It is the lightest of materials used for the exterior of an enclosed trailer. They are applied in panels with screws, rivets, 3M adhesive tape or epoxy industry. The use of thick aluminum exterior generally increase trailer stability and preserve the aesthetics of the trailer over. FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Plastics) is a fiber glass wall base is long lasting and easy to repair. FRP is normally available only in white. Steel and galvanized steel are usually outside at least desirable because they tend to rust and deteriorate quickly.

Cross Members

The materials used to construct the wall ties are made of steel or aluminum. The variety of steel is implemented using either a z-channel tube hat or post box. Post Hat implementations use the same configuration as steel billboards, and z-channel is a post cap cut in half. A steel tube to the box on all four sides and is generally considered the most desirable because of the force. Z-channel is the least desirable because of their strength while post cap is a compromise between the cost of the tube box and Z-channel. For commercial uses, or if your application requires features wall box tube is a must. In general, closed trailers after a hot z-channel tend to look outside their "wave" over time. Normally, members of the Red Cross center 16 '. Some manufacturers use 24 "on center, consumers should beware of these trailers if they are also using z-hat channel or post due to lack of strength.

Wall Material

Generally, with hat and z post-canal walls have plywood backing. Plywood give more weight during luan with cardboard tube. Looking long term, it is more economical to pay more for a trailer box wall bath if the trailer is used frequently due to added fuel costs. interior walls are made of aluminum design and are easy to clean. Some trailers offer a white vinyl coating overboard luan designer called. These walls are also easy to clean with a lower cost than aluminum.
