Glider Trips

Glider TripsMemories in a glider

When our children were young, my husband and I used to visit our friends Marian and Andy, who had a chassis-cab A in northern Pennsylvania, near the border of New York. The cabin was one of perhaps twenty-five that were built around an artificial lake. The kids loved getting up early to go fishing with their father and Andy. Sometimes they go canoeing or take the boat line for a trip around the lake or just jump in the water for a swim. Every morning, and Marian, I'd take a walk around the lake and sit on the deck to plan the rest of our days. We could go to a garage sale or visit a craft shop. Often we just sit and rock in his glider just talking and laughing until the fisherman back! I appreciated that so much. He was so calm that one could almost fall asleep.

Many years have passed since that time. Marian and Andy sold in the cabin. Our children are adults with children of their own. But the memory of those years we spent there will always be. In particular, the memory of the glider rocker watching the kids on the lake.

For several years, everything I say is how nice it would be sitting on deck in a glider rocking as Marian and Andy were at the cabin. For a long time, nobody took the hint. I guess I have not been clear enough! Last year I came out and said: "If someone wants more to buy something special, I would like a glider that was in the cabin."

Shortly after, when Mother's Day arrived, my daughter called me to tell me to meet them on the bridge they had a surprise. As I sat there in my plastic chair at the corner of the house comes from my two daughters with my son carrying this beautiful Cedar Glider! I was so excited. This was not the same as I remember, it was even better! It was heavier and was done for three people instead of two and had two heart-shaped cutouts on the back seat.

He was on deck for a while, when I really appreciated. I used to take my coffee out there some mornings. Later, we moved it to the corner of the pool where I could sit and watch our grandchildren swim. Our quick-son out of the pool, wrapped in a towel and jump on my knees so I can keep warm and then we rock together. I guess we did our own memories on this wing. I hope one day he look back and remember those days we spent together in the same way, I remember those days on the glider to the cabin.

Visit our website where you will find cedar and teak products, an assortment of cushions and a teak umbrella. I'm sure you will enjoy browsing our site. Maybe you find something special here that you too have been longing.
