Gamespot Review for Professor Layton and Pandora's Box

Professor Layton and Pandora's Box is the second of three games adventure Professor Layton that Level 5 is planning to release on Nintendo DS. While the first game, Professor Layton and the Curious Village, is set to be released in the U.S. this December, the second game is almost ready to be launched in Japan. And five officers showed off a trailer for long, his performance here.

Professor Layton games are conceptually a bit similar to American adventure games, as you travel around and try to solve a mystery while taking part in numerous mini-games and puzzle sequences. (The first game apparently incorporated almost 2,000 individual puzzles.) In this game, Layton and his young charge to discover the body of a man who died early in the game. Their investigation leads them to board the Molentary Express Railway, where they begin questioning the passengers, and end up in an ancient castle where a mysterious lord of the rules, but probably wrong. Layton and the Lord eventually end up in a ripping swordfight, possibly over the fate of the mysterious Pandora's box.

Obviously, the entire text and voiceovers are in Japanese, so it was a bit difficult to follow the thread of things. Apparently famous people are involved in providing the voice for the game, so it's good. Anyway, between talking to people, it will be another large batch of puzzles and mini-games to pass here. We caught glimpses of a couple of these puzzles, one seems to effectively involve packing a bag for your journey, while another has you serving breakfast buns to a few fellow travelers.
