If a Home Depot or Lowes near you, the two places has an information desk where you can tell them exactly what you want, and they will use the computer to tell you not only how to build, but also the materials you'll need. I built a fence, and they printed a detailed list of all the materials I need, including the price of each item that I have not already. They also rent a large number of tools you do not need to use every day, or ever for that matter. Hope this helps!
