fresh horse? I know that horses are a lot of money, but what does it cost per year?
- I live in Ontario
- Would have to pay for the pension (the barn I look isn't very expensive) (including power and participation and all)
- Would like to have someone lease my horse
What would be the cheapest way to own a horse?
It depends on many factors - If you do not care to be the smartest or most sophisticated horse barn and tack, you can save lots of money! I will state my expenses and how I save money on my horse for you and hope it helps
- Horse: $ 3,500 because I bought it in a barn that I spent many summers, and they know me very well and are happy to know where the horse would
- Tack ($ 700 Saddle, Bridle $ 10, $ 80 Reins, Bit $ 20, $ 80 Leathers, calipers $ 10, $ 100 circumference, Martingale $ 15)
If you can determine the relevance, without seeing what your buying and Ebay is PERFECT! I gained a good used leather martingale and bridle there and discounted demo a saddle that was mounted at about 3 times!) It also leaves the money to splurge on other parts.
- Council: $ 250 per month - using the board on the ground is cheaper and gives you a happier horse, though larger one.
- Shoes: $ 40 - $ 100 for the shoes behind the plate and before - depends on the farrier
- Plans Spring: $ 80 Group rates - if you find a veterinarian to come and give shots to all horses in your barn
- Dental work: I'm not positive, but leave a few hundred dollars for this IMPORTANT - VERY
- Trailer (optional): If you do not use it often, so you can find a very old in working condition for less than $ 3,000
- Worm: $ 40 per year
- Feed: really depends on how much and what kind of horse!
- Other things like brushes, buckets online slot, whips, blankets, fly spray, ointment, fat foot, shampoo, horse boots - when it comes to these things, I'm good, I'll usually the least expensive brand and find it works as well as the most expensive. You should also scan your compulsive Dover catalogs for sales closing - or if you live near a Dover Saddlery check their summer tent sale!
-------------------------------------- ...
My guess not, including the horse itself, trailer, and your game of tack (but adding about $ 500 per year for various purposes such as horse news coverage) and using my office on 250 $ that base, it is about $ 4,500 per year for me to keep my horse
Go There!
Maintenance of horses today is much more expensive than previous years. And even more remote for shows and events if that's what you enjoy doing.
Everyone complains about it! I costs about $ 2,000 - $ 3,000 per year just to maintain, vet checked, etc. This plan does not cover the hay that I moved to another state because we have not had much rain this year.
I live in Ontario as well, and because of rising gas prices and hay prices, among other things, the rates increased in all directions. I can not give you a definitive answer, if your horse has a veterinary emergency that could put you in the hole fast enough. For years, I'd say about $ 6,000 - $ 12,000 depending on the area of Ontario you live in (boarding in Toronto will cost more Pickle Lake).
edit: I do not see it cheaper, if you have a horse, you must do it properly. I mean, of course there are ways to save money, but there isn't any way in the gale, like hay, tack, veterinary, boarding, equipment, gas, etc.
