People are afraid that they wouldn’t be able to control the speed or be able to get out of the car in case of an emergency.
Not many individuals dread these vehicles, but those who do are significantly high in number.
Be that as it may, it is quite intriguing to know that people are afraid of something that is made specifically for their benefit. Dreading something is normally a sound and rational choice but this may seem otherwise. Some people believe that these vehicles cannot be completely independent. On the other hand, it’s actually true that most people put on makeup, watch shows or keep using their cell phones while driving. Self-driving cars would eliminate the need to drive and would allow users to focus on other important tasks. Furthermore, they would definitely reduce the chances of injuries and accidents. It’s right to say that if someone can’t focus on the road, they shouldn’t be driving in the first place.
A large number of people are afraid of digital assaults and hackers who can manipulate the system for their own benefit. While such cases are extremely rare, the fear of having to cope with technology and loss of control is a major contributing factor. On the contrary, some just dread the costs involved. Self-driving cars would definitely not be cheap and affordably priced. In fact, it’s going to take plenty of effort to keep up with the consistent refreshes in technology.
Keeping that in mind, there are several noteworthy hurdles that arise when it comes to self-driving cars. Since most cities are already congested with traffic, the technology of the vehicle and the program involved should be flexible and versatile enough to get accustomed to any kind of traffic conditions. The car would also need to have a practical approach. For example, if you’re shopping in a busy supermarket, it should essentially drop off the passenger and look for a nice parking spot. The fact that these cars would not have a mind of their own to have human reasoning and logic is a major concern.
The truth is that with all the unanswered inquiries regarding how such self-driving cars will work and their overall security, they’re bound to be afraid of the idea. Just like any other innovation, the user should find it reliable and trustworthy in order to utilize it for their own benefit. With that said, it is safe to say that self-driving cars would have to prove their worth if they want to make it in the long run.
